The renowned Michelin Guide made its debut in Mexico in May 2024, awarding over 150 restaurants across the country with a total of 18 Michelin stars. Specifically, in Quintana Roo, three restaurants earned a Michelin star each, showcasing exceptional culinary skills in their dishes. Tulum has also received recognition with the Michelin Guide highlighting 9 restaurants as noteworthy. While these establishments didn't receive stars this time, their recommendations signal a promising future where they could potentially earn Michelin recognition. Thanks to the confidence and economic growth Tulum offers, private investment surged by up to 80 percent in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year. Experts suggest that the new Michelin stars awarded in Quintana Roo could lead to a significant boost in tourism.
The guide recommended a total of 13 restaurants in the region, with 9 located in Tulum: Arca, Autor, Casa Banana, Cetli, Hartwood, Mestixa, Nü Tulum, Posada Margherita and Wild Tulum. Notably, two of Tulum's recommended spots, Cetli and Mestixa, received the Bib Gourmand Award, which honors establishments that offer high-quality food at a good value. These restaurants are on the cusp of becoming culinary landmarks in the Riviera Maya. Quintana Roo is expected to be Mexico's top state for economic and tourism growth in the coming years. The region already has four international airports as of early December last year: Cancún, Cozumel, Tulum-Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and Chetumal.

New tourist attractions are set to open soon. These include the Jaguar Park in Tulum, featuring an extraordinary sea-view lookout; the highly anticipated Gate to the Sea in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, offering access to the pristine beaches of the Sian Ka'an Biosphere; and the restoration of archaeological sites in the southern part of the state. Additionally, areas like Playa Mujeres and Tulum in the northern part of the state, as well as Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Bacalar, Xcalak, and Mahahual in the south, are expected to receive substantial private investments to boost the tourism industry in the coming years. The growing list of gastronomic places adds to the reasons to invest in Tulum, Quintana Roo, a tropical climate that attracts residents seeking a warm and sunny environment with access to beautiful beaches, cenotes, Mayan archaeological sites, and natural reserves.
If you’re interested in investing in Quintana Roo, real state developments such as MATCHA and Parque Veredas stand out in Mérida, which is a three-hour drive away from Tulum. Each house was planned with a profound understanding of the interconnection of spaces, ensuring that cross views provide a sense of openness and connection to the natural surroundings, while maintaining the fluidity of each area of the properties.
