Your community-driven magazine, offering tips, services for home abroaders, and unforgettable experiences.
Fasten your seatbelts! On Sunday, June 23, the streets of downtown Barcelona will test the V6 engines of Formula 1 as 20 adrenaline-filled race cars conquer each curve at over 100 km/h. This grand event comes with plenty of good news. From June 15 to 22, a Fan Village will be set up in Plaza Cataluña, where we will see great legends such as Sergio "Checo" Pérez, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Carlos Sainz, among other motorsport athletes. And if you’re still not convinced to visit Barcelona, get ready! On June 19, you can enjoy a powerful Road Show with music, gastronomy, and F1 simulators on the incomparable Paseo de Gracia.
With the arrival of Jaume Collboni (Mayor of BCN), a new era begins with the institutions that promote the Spanish GP, providing us with the best possible scenario to enjoy events full of rubber, fuel, and the exhilarating, deafening sound of these engineering beasts for a long time. What do you think? It’s amazing, right? The world of pistons and turbochargers is full of surprises, which is why we wrote this article. Our goal is for you to discover a new passion and a new reason to experience the City of Counts to the fullest. Where do the cars race? At the Circuit de Barcelona, which hosted its first Grand Prix in 1991. With a capacity of over 140,000 people, it saw Max Verstappen make history in 2023 by setting the fastest lap with a time of one minute and 16 seconds (1:16.330).
Adrenaline-filled race cars conquer each curve at over 100 km/h
What speed does a race car reach? Many factors contribute to maximizing the potential of a Formula 1 car, but in real circumstances, the highest recorded speed was 372.53 km/h in Mexico City in 2016 by driver Valtteri Bottas. How long does a tire change take? The current record (before regulation changes) is 1.92 seconds, set by Max Verstappen's team. However, after mid-season, it was established that pit stops must be extended by two-tenths of a second after the team completes mechanical tasks to avoid accidents.
You can take this information as vital for a future chat with your fellow F1 fans or continue researching until you become an expert. For now, we want to ask you: Who do you think will shake the champagne and stand on the top podium in this unforgettable GP?
